BICHECTOMY

Bichectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves making a small incision inside the mouth, near the fat pads, and removing them with forceps or a cannula. The incision is then closed with absorbable sutures. The procedure lasts approximately one hour and can be performed under local or general anesthesia.

ABOUT BICHECTOMY

Prior to surgery, the surgeon will evaluate your facial anatomy, medical history and expectations. You will be advised to avoid smoking, alcohol and certain medications that may increase bleeding. During the procedure, the surgeon will mark the location of the buccal fat pads and make a small incision inside the mouth near the upper second molar. The surgeon will then locate the fat pads and gently remove them with forceps or a cannula. The incision will be closed with absorbable sutures and the surgeon will apply a pressure bandage to reduce swelling. The surgery can be combined with other procedures such as liposuction, chin augmentation or cheek implants to enhance the results.

BICHECTOMY RECOVERY

After the procedure, you will receive instructions on how to care for your incisions, how to manage pain and swelling, and when to resume your normal activities.

You should avoid hot, spicy or hard foods for a few days and rinse your mouth with an antiseptic solution after every meal. You should also avoid strenuous exercise, sun exposure and facial massages for a few weeks.

The swelling and bruising will gradually subside and you will see the final results in three to six months. The results are permanent unless you gain a lot of weight.

ARE YOU THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR A BICHECTOMY?

Bichectomy is suitable for people who have chubby cheeks, a round face or lack of facial definition. It can also help people who have sagging cheeks due to aging or weight loss. Bichectomy can also cause complications such as bleeding, infection, asymmetry, nerve damage or facial hollowing. Bichectomy can improve the harmony, balance and attractiveness of your face. However, bichectomy is not recommended for people with very thin faces, prominent cheekbones, or a history of facial nerve injury or infection.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does a bichectomy cost?

At Ciplastic, the initial cost for a Bichectomy procedure is $1,000 usd. Your final cost will depend on your specific individual needs.

Is bichectomy painful?

Bichectomy is not a very painful intervention, since it is performed under anesthesia and the incisions are small and hidden inside the mouth. You may experience some discomfort, pain, or numbness in your cheeks for a few days after surgery, but this can be managed with pain relievers and ice packs.

How long does bichectomy last?

Bichectomy is a permanent procedure, as buccal fat pads do not grow back once removed. However, your facial appearance may change over time due to aging, weight fluctuations, or hormonal changes. Therefore, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow your surgeon’s recommendations to maintain your results.
