LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that involves removing excess fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, and others. It is also known as lipoplasty or body contouring. Liposuction is not a weight loss method, but rather a way to improve the shape and appearance of the body by removing fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.

ABOUT THE LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE

Liposuction is usually performed under general anesthesia or sedation, depending on the extent and location of the procedure. The surgeon makes small incisions in the skin and inserts a thin tube called a cannula, which is connected to a suction device. The surgeon moves the cannula back and forth to loosen and remove the fat. The incisions are then closed with stitches or tape. The procedure can take between one and four hours, depending on the amount of fat to be removed and the number of areas to be treated.

LIPOSUCTION RECOVERY

Recovery from liposuction varies depending on the individual and the type of procedure. In general, some swelling, bruising, pain, and numbness in the treated areas can be expected. These symptoms usually subside within a few weeks.

Your surgeon may prescribe pain medication, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatories to help the healing process. Your surgeon may also recommend wearing a compression garment or bandage to reduce swelling and support your new body shape. You may need to avoid strenuous activities, such as exercise, for several weeks.

The final results of liposuction may not be visible until several months after the procedure, when the swelling has subsided and the skin has tightened.

ARE YOU A RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR LIPOSUCTION?

  • Liposuction is not suitable for everyone. The ideal candidate for liposuction is a person in good health, with realistic expectations and a stable body weight.
  • Liposuction is not recommended for people with conditions that affect wound healing, blood clotting or fat metabolism, such as diabetes, heart disease or liver disease.
  • Liposuction is also not recommended for people with very loose or sagging skin, as the procedure may worsen the appearance of the skin.
  • Liposuction is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, and the results may not be permanent if the patient gains weight after the procedure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does liposuction cost?

At Ciplastic, the initial cost for a Liposuction procedure is $4,900 USD. Your final cost will depend on your specific individual needs.

What are the different types of liposuction and which one is best for me?

There are different types of liposuction, depending on the technique and equipment used. The most common type is tumescent liposuction, which involves injecting a large amount of fluid into the target areas before suctioning out the fat. The fluid contains a local anesthetic, a drug that constricts blood vessels, and a saline solution. This numbs the area, reduces bleeding and bruising, and makes the fat easier to remove. Another type is ultrasound-assisted liposuction, which uses sound waves to liquefy fat cells before they are suctioned out. This technique can be useful for treating dense, fibrous areas of the body, such as the upper back or male breast tissue. The best type of liposuction for you depends on your goals, preferences, and your surgeon’s advice.

What are the risks and complications of liposuction?

Like all surgical procedures, liposuction has some risks and complications. Some of the possible complications of liposuction are infection, bleeding, scarring, nerve injury, skin irregularities, asymmetry, fluid imbalance, and fat embolism. Some of these complications can be serious or even life-threatening in rare cases. Therefore, it is important to choose a qualified and experienced surgeon, follow preoperative and postoperative instructions, and inform the surgeon as soon as possible of any signs of problems.
