Abdominoplasty

Price from: $5,600 usd

Abdominoplasty is a cosmetic surgery aimed at improving the shape and appearance of the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the underlying muscles. It is also known as abdominoplasty.

About abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty usually takes between two and five hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a horizontal incision between the pubic hairline and the navel and lifts the skin and fat from the abdominal wall. The surgeon then tightens the abdominal muscles with stitches and removes excess skin and fat. The remaining skin is pulled down and stitched together, creating a firmer, flatter abdomen. The surgeon may also reposition the navel to match the new contour. Drainage tubes may be inserted under the skin to remove any fluid or blood.

Abdominoplasty Recovery

Recovery time for a tummy tuck varies depending on the individual and the extent of the procedure. In general, a patient can expect to have some pain, swelling, bruising, and numbness for the first few weeks. The patient should avoid any strenuous activity and follow the surgeon’s instructions for wound care and medication. A compression garment or girdle should also be worn to support the abdomen and reduce swelling. Drainage tubes are usually removed after one week, and stitches are removed after two weeks.

The patient can return to work in two to four weeks, depending on the nature of the job. The final results of the procedure may take up to a year to appear, as swelling decreases and scars fade.

Are You the Right Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

Abdominoplasty is suitable for people who have excess skin and fat in the lower abdomen that does not respond to diet and exercise. The patient must also be in good health, have realistic expectations, and a stable weight. Abdominoplasty is not recommended for people who plan to lose a significant amount of weight, who may be considering pregnancy in the future, who have chronic medical conditions that affect healing, or who are allergic to anesthesia.

Abdominoplasty is generally considered a safe procedure, but like any surgery, it does carry some risks and possible complications. These include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, tissue damage, nerve damage, fluid buildup, poor wound healing, and dissatisfaction with the outcome. To minimize these risks, it is important to choose a qualified and experienced surgeon, follow preoperative and postoperative instructions, and report any signs of problems to your doctor.
A tummy tuck is designed to last a long time, as the skin and fat removed from the abdomen are permanent. However, the results of a tummy tuck can be affected by factors such as weight fluctuations, aging, pregnancy, and lifestyle. To maintain the results of a tummy tuck, the patient should avoid losing or gaining significant weight, exercise regularly, follow a healthy diet, and avoid smoking.
